I plan to ship my car on an open carrier. Is there anything I should be aware of or watch out for? What can I do to minimize exterior damage? Any feedback would be appreciated.

From what I read, the AWD should never be towed? Would transport by a flatbed to the carrier be ok?

Thanks,

AWD vehicles should be towed on a flatbed truck. All tires need to be off the ground. If you arrange for a flatbed truck to come ahead of time, it shouldn't be an issue. I've done so in the past with my Impreza.

I've never shipped a car, but my close buddy has done so to Hawaii twice. You need to make sure the parking brake is up to spec. Make sure it's in good working order. Also, it's important for some to have no more than 1/4 tank of fuel in your car.
