Wheel sizes

Hey, good people.

I recently registered to the forum.

I got my Kizashi in July and I just love the car so far. I found it by chance, browsing the ads.
Had never heard about the model. Just typed in what I was looking for in options and how much I wanted to spend. And there it was...

Anyway, I was wondering about the wheels...

I have some original Suzuki wheels on it (235/45/18).
Winter is on its way and I need to get some rubbers.

My options would be - get a complete set of new winter tires (rim and rubber) and get new rubber for the current rims next summer. Or, buy winter rubber for the current rims and get a new set of alloy wheels for next summer.

Which sizes fit the Kizashi, without modification to the car? 19" looks like it would fit, but how about 20"?
I'm sure I have to lower the profile if I increase the size.
Or should I just go with the same size set it has now...

Did any of this make any sense?

What sizes are you using?

Any tips and views appreciated.

I have some more ideas for it but I'll leave that for later.

Someone on here posted their car with 20s on it without modification. It looked great, but like you said the profile will need to be smaller to accommodate.

I'm somewhat in the same boat as you... but I have an extra set of rims (oem 18s) that I was looking to put winter tires on them.

(I'm downsizing my 18"s to 17X7.5" wheels, and mounting either studded Goodyears or Blizzak WS80's. Come summer I'll be able to mount less-expensive 225/50 R17 choices).

Both of those diameters will fit fine assuming you keep the rubber in the right range. The width or offset could have you running into issues if you get bold, or don't know what you're buying. The OE offset is +50 on 8's, and they mount up with about a 3/4" inset from flush at the front (which is less adjustable than the rear as we can't camber them in w/o using cammed strut bolts ($25). 9.5 wide with a +45 offset or greater should still tuck w/o pulling liners depending on the rubber you put on 'em. That should get you in the ballpark, depending on your aim.

TireRack is a good suggestion, but they will err the side of caution as they are only pulling specs from a database. (Good for staying out of trouble). If you're looking for trouble, I may have some useful data for you. I have taken a ton of measurements that I couldn't find having been posted before, which will come in handy if you want to shoehorn some meat on. There are, however, a handful of dependencies that exist.

20's done tightly .. (not my rig) .. and a nice guide for rubber selection centered on our OE tire.

I'll check the website, maybe they could give some pointers.
I've checked online for some rims, but there are quite a few to choose from.
The size needs to be right though, like we already concluded.

I'll post again when I decide what to get.

As for the winter tires, I'll most likely go for Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2, studless tires.

That's a nice ride you got there. Hmm, now I'm wanting mudflaps too.

Gonna try to make some time on Saturday to have a look at some rims.
Since my Kizashi is black, I don't think I'll go for all black rims. Gets to be kinda too much black, I think.

I like the style of my OEM 18's. However, the paint flaking off is a major turn off. I'm debating whether to just have them professionally redone or just buying a new set of aftermarket wheels. I'm getting quotes from $90 to $125 for each wheel. Not including remounting and rebalancing
