Hello all. My 2013 Kizashi will automatically lock the doors when I leave the keys inside the car. So If I am getting gas and don't take the keys out with me and shut the door. Major pain in the as* if you ask me. Also does the same thing when just sitting in the car with it off. Is there a way to disable this feature ? or modify it in some way ?

Also if the keys are left inside and it locks should the door button be able to read the key inside the car, was thinking maybe was the key battery ?

thanks!

according to your last sentence you want the door button to work with the key INSIDE the car? So if you're IN the car, WITH the key, and you lock the door cuz you're in a bad neighborhood, you'd want whoever to come up and be able to open the door? It wouldn't be a very good door lock then.

I think your Kizashi is being smart and telling you to take the key with you when you step into the shop, so whoever cannot just get in the car and drive off cuz it's not locked. Your car doesn't recognize you, it recognizes anyone with the key.

It's working just as it should I think.

You should replace the battery inside the key fob. The Kizashi should not automatically lock the doors if it detects the fob inside the car. It's supposed to actually force an unlock. Same with the trunk. If you leave your keys in the trunk and close it, it should actually open again and prevent a locked closure.
I'm thinking your fob is malfunctioning due to a low battery. Have you had any issues with opening the doors from a distance via the remote?

Keep in mind that the Kizashi will automatically lock its doors if it's unlocked via the fob or remote, but a door isn't opened within 30 seconds or so. Given your description, it sounds like the car can't detect the fob properly and that's most likely due to a low fob battery.

thanks I actually figured out the problem. The door sensor on my driver door is bad. The computer will automatically lock the doors if no door is opened within 30 seconds of an unlock. Since the car did not notice the driver door being opened ( bad sensor ) it would lock them once i get inside. Problem solved.

Any details on the fix? Part number? Cost?
