Dear Suzuki, please please bring back the Kizashi with a more economical engine, preferably a hybrid or full electric.
I'm from the a country where fuel is expensive and cars that emit high levels of CO2 are subjected to expensive tax. You can do it Suzuki-san. YOU CAN DOOO IT.
Note to Suzuki
Unfortunately, I think the Kizashi is now out of production with no replacement. I believe some markets are still selling their stock of Kizashis, but I think production has ended. The Kizashi is no longer listed in Suzuki of Japan's website. Given the dismal global sales failure of the Kizashi, I'm quite sure Suzuki won't bother with a second generation even as a hybrid or EV at least in the near future.
However, new Suzukis model are upcoming. In the current Tokyo Auto Show, Suzuki revealed some interesting concept cars. They also showed their new Ignis which will be in production soon. The next two cars to be introduced into production will likely be the next generation Swift and the Jimny.
Here's a teaser for the 2015 Tokyo Auto Show with the Suzuki concepts currently being displayed.

Shame about the Kizashi but there you go an opportunity missed due to the reasons we all know, the Swift and other models sold in the UK seem to be doing alright at the moment according to my dealer but I can't see anything mainstream in those concept models except maybe the Ignis.

The Ignis will be entering production next. It's not so much of a concept car at this point. The concept for it was the iM-4.Engineer60 wrote:Shame about the Kizashi but there you go an opportunity missed due to the reasons we all know, the Swift and other models sold in the UK seem to be doing alright at the moment according to my dealer but I can't see anything mainstream in those concept models except maybe the Ignis.

The production version will likely be this so the concept stayed pretty true to form.

Also, as crazy as that Mighty Deck concept looks, it's actually a throwback to a real production vehicle from Suzuki in the 1980's called the Mighty Boy.

That media source is way off.G13b wrote:IK2 is the new kizashi according to the media.
The iK-2 concept vehicle was for the Suzuki Baleno which is now being sold.

To this date, there is no word of Suzuki even considering a successor to the Kizashi. In fact, there's more out on the web saying they won't offer a second generation. It makes sense given Suzuki left North America and doubled-down on focusing on small cars in other markets. Heck, I'd be surprised if they offer a new Jimny as a traditional ladder-frame SUV with 4x4 and solid axles like the current version given the CUV trend.

Kudus for posting information for these new models.
Unfortunately here in the UK (london) I'd have to pay over $400 US dollars a year (£265) to the government in road tax just to own a Kizashi, and that price goes up yearly. It's also not very economical with regards to fuel consumption compared to most modern motors thesedays.

The Baleno looks amazing. If the Kizi had originally been given a different engine, and in the UK, a manual box, I believe they may still be building it now. I find it sad they gave up so easily. A diesel unit, and a 1.6 turbo petrol would have been ideal.
I'm personally not a fan of the Baleno at all. I think it looks dated and uninspiring. I also checked the specs and it will be offered with 3 cylinder and 4 cylinder gasoline engines. No mention of diesel. Of course, CVT or manual option.
I'm digging the looks of the Ignis however and like that it's a beefy, CUV version of the Alto. Sadly, none of these will be available in Canada and the US given Suzuki left these markets. However, with the current low gasoline prices in the US, Suzuki would have seen poor sales as their cars are primarily small. GM even had to cut assembly shifts for their subcompact Sonic due to slow sales while their sales for larger vehicles like the Tahoe and Suburban fullsize SUVs are rising.
