Making use of the rear fog light housing
Has anyone made use of the blank rear fog light housing and added a light in there? I'm thinking I'd like some more visibility as there is only a single rear marker/brake light in the rear corners. I'm pretty sure I don't want to actually go full euro and make them fog light bright, but either just a rear marker, brake only, or another marker/brake combo bulb. What do you guys think? Any reason I shouldn't do it?

There's a blank unused spot in the taillights of N. American models that in other countries have a bright bulb in there that turn on when your front fog lights are turned on. There's a whole thread in the forum somewhere about it...

When I initially investigated it, I was hoping there was a dummy insert in the rear fog light bulb housing. I was hoping that I could then install a bulb and get the proper harness to have functional rear fog lights after installing an OE switch. However, the Kizashi sold in markets without rear fogs actually don't even have a housing mount for the rear fog lights. It's a blank without access to the lens. Hence, you'd have to drill and fabricate your own to even fit a bulb in there. Then, you'd have to change the rear tail light harness to get one that includes the rear fog light wiring. Lastly, you'd also have to get the switch to activate it, assuming there's even a wire running through the car with the harness to support it.
I figured it was way too much work for something unnecessary though I've always liked rear fog lights on European cars.
In case people are confused about the location of rear fog lights on the Kizashi, it's in the space directly below the clear lens of the back-up lights. The reflector encompasses it and it's a blank for North American models but some markets have rear fog lights in there. These are basically small but bright additional bulbs that make the rear of your car easier to see in dense fog, therefore reducing the likelihood of getting rear-ended.

Here's a video of a Kizashi with them on. This Kizashi looks to be in Taiwan or China and not Japan. Rear fog lights aren't common in Japan.
