Here in Spain, as you can see, in 2016 euro brands were the most sold. Meanwhile sedans are in extinction bad taste prevails.

Representing the USA, the 3 top selling vehicles are all full-size trucks. It may be hard for non-Americans to think, but yes, the three best selling vehicles in America are all large trucks.

1) Ford F-Series (largely the F-150)


2) Chevrolet Silverado


3) Dodge Ram

The Top 10 however includes the Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, and the Honda Accord. CUVs like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue are also on the list. Given the lower price of gasoline, Americans typically like to get bigger vehicles hence pick-up trucks and SUVs are very popular.

What's interesting is that the best selling vehicles in Spain are not offered in the US, let alone any vehicles from those brands.

Here the top 10 includes only an asian vehicle (Nissan Qashqai = your Nissan Rogue model) and a little one "half-american": Opel Corsa.

We don't have the Toyota Hilux, but have a very similar vehicle that was designed for the US market. It's called the Toyota Tacoma. It's similar to the Hilux but not offered with a diesel engine. This vehicle is considered a "midsize" truck in the US and is smaller than the top 3 sellers.

The Nissan Qashqai is actually not a Nissan Rogue, though similar and related. The Rogue is actually a Nissan X-Trail from Japan and the Qashqai is a similar but smaller vehicle. The difference was apparently important enough for Nissan to bring the Qashqai to the US this Spring. It will be called the Rogue Sport here.

Also, an Opel Corsa is a totally European car. The Corsa has not ever been offered in the US. The connection to the US is that Opel is a subsidiary of GM, but largely serves as a European brand for them based in Germany. GM has shared some Opel engineering in the US through brands like Buick and others, but the Corsa is not American by any means. The current GM-branded small cars sold in the US are sourced from Asia via GM Korea (formerly Daewoo) instead of Europe.
