I think Suzuki must have been very "creative".

My Wife's Kia Cerato (Forte) has a 2.0L engine with the same ADR consumption average of 7.9L/100km, she gets a reasonable 8.3-8.7L/100km most of the time.

My previous two Mazda 6 cars (2.3L engine) would do 8.7-8.9L/100km most of the time.

It seems Kia and Mazda have much more realistic fuel consumption figures than Suzuki!!

Well after some snow, and my AWD in full effect I got 17.9mpg on the last tank. lol, I bet if I had a prius I would get about 25-28mpg on that!

I'm getting a truck next Eff it!

i knew it wouldn't be the advertised 7.9.. but I was hoping for around 9.... ahh well.
Shaneous, 7.9 in the Suzuki Literature refers to Litres per 100km's or 12.6km/L. 10.6km/L works out to 9.4 L/100km. You can set up the trip computer to show either, which one is your's set to?

I seem to get a consistent 7.9L/100km (29.7MPG US) in my XLS manual. Best figures on a trip with mostly freeway of 6.5L/100km or 36.2mpg. On my current tank I'm at about 7.7L/100km. I drive fairly conservatively on a mix of 50/50 urban/freeway. I've done the math on fill up and the actual reading when the computer shows 7.9 is around 8.4l/100km, so its out .5 L/100km or so. The more urban stop start driving you do, the more this figure becomes inaccurate. If you were to do a whole tank on the freeway, you'll find the trip computer to be pretty close to actual. Bare in mind that fuel pumps aren't always accurate (expecially if they can squeeze more dollars out of you) and even the temperature of the fuel can make a difference to the volume.

The trip computers speedo (versus the speedometer dial which is about 5km down) is fairly accurate as previously discussed, so your distances covered as per the trip computer should be right.

I've found that the Distance to Empty only counts down to the point that the fuel light will come on, at which point it will show --- . The car will do another 80km's or so with the fuel light, although no where in the literature have I found how many litres are supposed to be in the tank when the fuel light comes on, like ever other car I've owned does. Haven't run out of fuel yet and a couple of times I've gotten 63.2L and 62L in it respectively, filling up at around 730kms driven. Think I might do a jerry can drive and see how big the tank is, unless someone's done this already :D

Hi Jezza,

That's great fuel consumption you are getting, maybe it's the fact that your's is a manual/ (although Suzuki claim the same figures for manual and auto).

With my XLS auto I am lucky to get 600km on a 61L fill. I think Shaneous has the auto as well.

You have just given me another reason I wish I had gone for the manual!

Do not know about liters but after 3300 Miles I am getting 28mpg(actual) for all around driving, my computer says 30.5.
How much gas has anyone ever been able to put into the tank. With the low level light on I only get 13 gallons.

Well I got 20.2 mpg on the last tank and that was in AWD the whole time.

As for fuel, mine takes 14+ gallons every fill up. That's even when I fill it just as the low level light comes on.

With less than 500 miles on car, I am getting around 30MPG with a mix of about 70% highway/30% City. I'm pretty happy with that if it continues, especially given that the cold weather is here.

I am a relatively conservative driver, but don't have a trace of blue hair yet.

I am completely sold on the fact that Pittsburgh is a hilly region, I've never owned a car that got great mpg. I do mostly local driving, very little highway driving. I think a moped would get about 30mpg here?

With AWD and all the stop and go driving and the hills, I guess that 20-21 is pretty good!

I just wish the auto makers would do the estimated mpg city and highway tests here instead of texas or kansas!

Back to complain some more...

Well I am over 11,000 miles now. I am getting on average 18-20mpg AWD on or off. The thing that pisses me off is my sister in law bought a new Jeep Cherokee Laredo (pretty sweet) and she is getting 19 mpg, REALLY? REALLY? LOL I am just going to stop checking my freaking mileage and shut up...

That should be my last negative mpg rant, I think? :?

I would be very curious to see what a typical day in your Kizashi is like. I live north of Pittsburgh and drive there every day for work. My last tank was 29.6(display said 30.1). I have never gotten worse than 26.
