I'm willing to buy MT fluid online, but not 5 quarts of motor oil every 7500 miles. I value the convenience of obtaining motor oils so I rather get it in a local store. I also don't want to pay for the shipping of 5 or 6 quarts.
Bumping this thread for the umpteenth time lol.
I’ve gotten two jugs of Pennzoil Platinum from Amazon... Well, sort of. The second time I ordered one it got lost in transit

. So I got it from Pep Boys instead, and did their $15 rebate or whatever it was. The overall price post-rebate was similar to Amazon’s, if maybe a bit less.
I’ve only changed my Kizashi’s oil once in the two years I have had it; I plan on changing it again soon. The first time I changed it I used PP and a Purolater One filter, because that was the best fit for my driving needs (that Pep Boys had) and the One is a good filter on paper. I don’t need the M1 filter since I don’t put on too many miles between oil changes. 10,000 miles is still way more than what I do but the red Purolater has a lower filtration efficiency that I’m not willing to compromise.
However in preparation for the upcoming change I’ve been on BITOG a lot looking at what they have to say about the various filters the Kizashi can use, and the One is probably dumped on more than any other, thanks to the tearing tendency. I have not experienced this but I don’t want to chance it again, either. My local O’Reilly’s has a Wix filter which I see is highly regarded and fairly priced. Anyone else use Wix? I have an EcoGuard filter that I plan to use for the oil change (pretty respected on BITOG), but want the Wix as a backup in case of fitting issues.
I don’t go to Walmart or Costco, for what it’s worth.
Also should point out I can’t do oil changes at home yet, because the garage is a mess and the house is on a hill so that wouldn’t be ideal for getting all of the oil out or propping up the car to begin with. I go to a DIY garage that doesn’t supply anything besides tools, hence why I want to come prepared with a backup filter in case the first doesn’t fit. I don’t trust Amazon’s compatibility claims ever since I bought some windshield wipers that Amazon claimed were compatible with the Kizashi but ultimately weren’t. At least I was able to return them for a full refund.
Also just curious, but has anyone used Royal Purple? There are some interesting videos about it as an engine cleaner.
P.S. I have not really had any issues with PP and the Purolater One. I didn’t really have any issues with the previous oil either, although I’m not sure what it was (besides being well past the point of changing lol) and the filter was an uncommon Mahler of all things. Though I’m not the best at sensing all of the things everyone else has discussed here. I plan on staying with Pennzoil but perhaps trying their new synthetics that are made with more specific needs in mind.
