Car Jumping when switching into Drive or Reverse Gear
I believe they're saying the car lurches when put into gear. I know other members have mentioned that their car developed that over time. Mine has been doing it since I first got it used. It's very minor though, so maybe the OP's is more severe?

Severe lurching when shifting out of park could be very dangerous, and is probably really bad for the transmission and engine.
I'm surprised this recall is only on the 2013's. Usually, an issue like this pops up on the first 1-2 model years for a car, not the last...

I've noticed less harshness when changing between P-D-R / D-R-P since the fluid change. The CVT, overall, is behaving much, much better.

Out of habit, I hold my foot on the brake in any car until I feel it shift in to gear. I assume the problem is the shift being delayed? The 2013 TCM recall was related to a bad batch of components that were used on the circuit boards. That sort of thing can happen at any point in production. There were some early TCM issues as well, that were taken care of with TCM reprogramming. Some 2010 production had a recall for TCM reprogramming, and 2012 models had a TSB for TCM reprogramming.
With the TCM swap, I would estimate that you need a few hundred miles of driving for the TCM to learn the characteristics of your transmission and control it "optimally". During that learning period I'd expect the observable behavior of the transmission to be a bit different from what you're accustomed to. That's about what it took on my 2013 (some of which may also have been me adjusting to the new TCM).
dbleonard...some excellent points to make for the OP to consider. Things I'd forgotten over the years that are now simply habit and which I've become absent-mindedly used to. The CVT in and of itself is a unruly thing to get used to while driving vs. a conventional AT. I'd forgotten just how looong it took me to get used to its 'ways' of transferring power to the wheels. However, now I feel that conventional ATs are too herky-jerky anymore. Case in point, the new Mazda CX5 I have. Funny how things/perceptions change over time.

Is it possible that your idle is just too high? Should say on the sticker under your hood what the idle should be. Try turning off absolutely everything (including the HVAC fan) and see if it's any better.
