I changed the motor oil on the Kizashi yesterday after 6000 miles on Kirkland Signature Full Synthetic 5W-30 and a K&N oil filter. I'm using the same oil again but this time went for a Wix oil filter. I also changed the oil on my wife's 2014 Scion xB which happens to use a similar oil filter. Both cars have a NA 2.4 liter inline 4 cylinder engine. The Mobil 1oil filter for both cars is the M1-103. What is interesting is that Wix actually specifies a different filter for the Kizashi though the one for the Scion fits. I knew they had the same threading and similar gasket diameter because both cars use the same Mobil 1 and K&N filter. However, for Wix, they apparently make slightly different filters with differences in dimensions and bypass pressure. I got the one for the Scion even for the Kizashi given O'Reilly's didn't have the one specified for the Kizashi in stock. It fit fine and the filter is of a longer design unlike the Mobil 1 and K&N filters.

What is interesting is that the Wix 57145 states it is specified for Suzukis from MY 96 to 2010. Perhaps this is why it's compatible in fit with some newer Suzukis too.
It's been noted on this forum before that oil filters specified for the mid 2000s Camry fits on the Kizashi. However, by the same model years as the Kizashi, it appears the Camry used a different oil filter, likely due to a different engine. Interestingly, the 2nd gen Scion xB with the 2.4 liter engine uses a compatible oil filter with the Kizashi's J24B engine.
What Did You Do With Your Kizashi Today?
I finally got the airbag sensor recall work done on my Kizashi after getting notices for like three years. I ignored it for a while due to just being preoccupied and it not seeming very critical. I finally decided to get it done after conceding it could bring more benefits than cons in my situation. I also now live almost walking distance to an Authorized Service Dealer (now a commercial truck center) so it was not out of the way. In fact, I drive by it everyday on my way to work.
The recall work took just over an hour and the front passenger seat cushion does indeed look different. Not in a bad way but it does look like it's new, at least under the fabric. The fabric might be new too but I kept my original seats very clean so I can't really tell. I also appreciate that the tech fixed the side chair trim piece that has been damaged for a while. Much like the gas tank recall work, my Kizashi came back with minor annoyances inadvertently fixed as part of the recall labor.
My Kizashi is now all caught up on recalls and I can't say I regretted any of the work. While I might not keep my Kizashi for the long haul, it's my belief the recall work puts the vehicle in a better place functionally for the long run.

I drove my Kizzy for almost 6 months it has become my daily-drive car again, I noticed the AC is not blowing cold like before when the car sat under the sun on hot days and decided to go to mechanic shop to service but noticed it became better and better and after 6 months of regular drive car AC back to its normal cold, I think using AC more frequently makes AC system to work better.
Bought my Kizashi 6 months ago. Removed tombstone mid pipe and replaced with 24" cherry bomb, removed both rear mufflers and added cherry bomb turbo mufflers (sounds great, deep). Fabricated a silicone tube to use as the intake in place of the stock tube which has silencers, kept stock air box but deleted the silencer off of it, WIX are filter. Added Powerstop slotted and drilled rotors all around. Did a throttle body coolant bypass. Swapped out all four tires to Continental extreme contact for better handling. Added 1 inch rear hub centric spacers and half inch up front. Some other little things but nothing to write about.
Kizashi must use Mobil 1 oil so I do. I originally used the Purolater Boss filter. I am hearing Mobil 1 filters are flow restrictive, WIX and Purolater is manufactured by the same company and K&N is the same as Super Tech...

Recently returned from a 2.5 month work trip to Virginia...I live near Seattle. The company would have flown me, but I elected to take my Kizashi for a couple of reasons. 1) I could have my wife with me and we'd have much more freedom in our personal car than the company car they'd have supplied. 2) I took the opportunity to visit Old Tech up in Pennsylvania and get the CVT long pin conversion he has developed!
Thanks to Old Tech, in one day he was able to clean up my CVT, replace belt tensioner and an electric cooling fan motor that had just started to go out. He truly is a one stop shop for our Kizashi's!
On the return trip, I scheduled for a new set of tires to be installed in Montana, a sales tax free state. Michelins were on sale too! These are the most aggressive looking tires I've ever gotten, but the reviews I've found sound amazing and I look forward to some winter fun!
Finished the trip with a oil change.

Can you send more pictures? Like the brakes and a clearer engine bay pic would be pretty rad. Also we gotta hear the exhaust now, can't say you upgraded it and not show a video!!lareid wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 8:13 pm 2011 Kizashi GTS - custom silicone intake tube to stock scoop box with WIX filter, Throttle body coolant bypass / mid pipe replaced with cherry bomb muffler, two rears replaced with cherry bomb turbo mufflers (sound deep, no rasp) Added half inch wheel spacers to the front and one inch to the rear. It's a nice ride for sure tho, red engine cover looks a bit funky IMO, but personal choices differ
