ECU Question: Why Piggy-back, Not Re-flash?
Tc is right on the head about reflash here. Reflashes are also a problem when you get , reflashed again from the dealer (overwritten.) With that and the fact that the gains from the piggy are quite noticable since the stock fuel curves were quite rich. I am going to stay out of the fighting. People can wait for a flash but those that do not want to have good alternatives here. At least 10 Suzuki dealerships are using these piggys including the GM of Witchita Suzuki (on his personal Kizashi.) My only fault is that I misplace the dynos for this and only have the turbo ones that I can find. I have not had a Kizashi for new dynos since the last 3 we have had at the shop were for turbo. I am sorry though. I am also sorry for someone who bought our stuff, likes it, shares the experience with the community, ends up getting shot at. Not fair really. I thought this board would be more of a community and not like this. Too bad. All this because I lost a paper. Sorry Afreakman. I did not realize the ramifications of losing that paper. I am going to try to find it again.
Was not shooting at the poster - was advising potential buyers to be careful. he chose to take it personally.
The following is a yes or no answer - have YOU found the Piggyback has any significant improvement of the well documented CVT lag from start?

Actually I thought it was a fairly good technical debate. I'm not going to lock the topic, but you guys might want to chill for a few days. It is best not to take anything personally on the internet.
We have a good community and some arguing is to be expected, but just try not to take it too far.
I would also like the see some measurable evidence of the improvements.
Have a good day guys.

Thanks for remaining on-topic. Reasonable explanation.~tc~ wrote:Piggybacking has some significant advantages because you are not redoing the stock programming, just tweaking the sensor signals as they come in. In order to reflash, you basically have to decrypt the entire ECU system, and for the few number of Kizashi out there, the return on investment for that work would not justify it.
Thank you as well for remaining on-topic. One ADVANTAGE of reflashing is that you can tweak everything as opposed to just spoofing the sensor signals. Shift points, TC lockup, etc that could possibly fix the lag that the CVT owners complain about. It would be worth the work I imagine to decrypt the factory ecu flash. In fact, I would not be shocked if Suzuki was willing to cooperate with RRM to that end. Suzuki can't be so marketingly challenged that they completely miss the 'tuner-market' boat...can they?ROCK wrote:Tc is right on the head about reflash here. It reminds me of something a wise man once told me. "Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."Moto wrote:It is best not to take anything personally on the internet.

NOTE: No offense intended to the learning impaired or Special Olympians in the membership. Even my nephew with Down syndrome thinks that quote is funny (and fairly accurate).

Just installed the piggy back the other day.
I run 98 RON premium fuel in my cars, after installing the piggy as the only modification I could feel straight away there was more response to low speed throttle input.
It seems to lock in the convertor earlier, as someone suggested the ECM and transmission module's may be linked.
Fuel economy has also improved, which was my main reason for installing the piggyback.
All in all I give it a pass. Next couple of weeks cat back then the light pulley.
