Hey Fellow Kizzy owners,
I was on 20 day long trip that took me to Asia. I have to tell you, this afternoon when SuperShuttle dropped me home and I saw my Kizzy, it made me really happy, actually really really happy. The first thing that I did the moment I entered my apartment was to find the keys and take it for a spin. Ohh it felt good. Though I drove my Dad's Swift there, it does not compare to Kizzy at all. Swift felt underpowered (ya it has 1.2L engine with about 70 bhp and among the worst of adulterated gasoline for its diet) but nevertheless, feeling of sportiness is definitely in Swift too. Most of that 70 bhp is available high up in rev band but once u hit the sweet spot, its a delight. Even the chasis is really well tuned, though the ride is on hard side (because of the uneven road and pot holes everywhere), u can still throw it around in a corner and be rest assured, that like kizzy, it will hold its line.

I do hope that Suzuki at some points decides to bring Swift into American market as companies like Mini, fiat, ford are introducing small cars targeting the high gasoline prices. Its a very able car, with good reputation from all around the world. Along with Kizzy's increasing sales, Swift is what Suzuki America needs to boost its sale.

And another funny/interesting thing is, I saw first of Kizzy other than mine on the road, and boy the car looks pretty on road. It has a definite road presence and looks like a really high end product.

Just thought I should share my excitement of my reunion with Kizzy, my experience with Swift and seeing another Kizzy on the road for the first time. :-)

In order to be competition for the other large auto makes Suzuki should have brought the swift over first and not be late to the game. It is looking like the chevy spark is even going to beat the swift over.

I couldn't agree with you more. After five years of driving BMWs, I have gotten more looks and compliments with my Kizashi in just the first month I've been driving it.

The car magazines all have complimentary things to say about the Swift, and the timing for the car seems right in North America with higher and ever-rising gas prices, but I guess that Suzuki has been hesitant about bringing it here because they can't make the financial part of th equation work. Too bad, because it seems that small cars like the Fiat 500, the Fiesta and the Mini are suddenly hot . Probably the only way to make it work in North America is to build it in a low-wage country like India, where Suzuki already has 50% of the domestic market. However, I understand that Suzuki sells all the cars it can make in India already .

I read somewhere that the current generation Swift does not meet US crash or emissions standards, but that the next generation will, and then it will be available here.

I hope they bring the diesel too ...

I was recently in Indian Sub-Continent and from what I could read around, there is a wait time of around 2 months on Petrol Suzuki swift there, so I doubt we are ever going to see any Cars from that part of the world bound for US. And about 3-4 months of wait time for the Diesel version of Swift and Swift Dzire (swift with very ugly looking boot) in India.

Personally, Suzuki Swift (along with Kizzy ofcourse) is what I think might just turn the tide for Suzuki here in US given the rising fuel price and recent success of small hatchbacks here. SX4 has more of AWD image, what Suzuki needs is to bring one of its many small hatches to US and market it as fuel efficient hot hatch for masses with Japanese reliability. Could be Swift, or Alto or Astar or WagonR (ok may be not WagonR :-D).

Lets hope Suzuki does the right thing and finds logic in bringing in Swift here.

We don't want the Maruti Swift, everyone says they are significantly lower quality than those made in Hungary or Japan, plus shipping is considerably closer from either of those locations.
