Does the stock Rockford AMP have low level inputs?
My understanding is that our head unit is a renamed Kenwood DNX6960.
Which if you look on Amazon has 3 pairs of Preouts...front ,rear and sub.
Also...has anyone tried updating the Head Unit software here?

Difference between RF audio systems?
The unit is a "DNX6020EX". You can see that if you pull off the little sticker on the lower right corner. I'm pretty sure the SD update is only for the Nav (didn't you get the update from Garmin??). I've successfully done that as well. The "Kenwood part", the radio, seems to require a CD update, but I also can't burn one that will read. On a slightly different note, I did have it "reboot" on me yesterday while driving...first time that's happened.
Finally got the install report and pics up for the Chinese Double Din HU update on my Rockford Fosgate equiped Kizashi XLS!

Hey, thanks for the submissions on this thread - I've been following closely, as I've been frustrated trying to get the stereo to sound like I think it should even though I am not by any means an expert sound guy. One thing I just wanted to add to the discussion - and btw according to my dealer the Nav unit in my 2011 Sport GTS is a Kenwood DNX-6160 - is the "recommended" settings set forth in the Kenwood Nav unit's quick start guide. The car was not set to these settings when I got the car - I played with the settings a bunch trying to get it to sound better, but without much success, and I just noticed these settings - after punching them in, I think the sound is better, but far from great. Anyway, since I don't think they have been posted yet, and I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on them, here they are:
"These are the recommended sound settings for vehicles equipped with the Rockford Fosgate Audio System: ...
Volume Offset: -10
Loud: ON
Speaker Setting (Front L&R): Wide
EQ Setting Center Frequency Level Q
__________________________________
Bass 50Hz 8 1
DC Bass Ext ON
Mid 500Hz 1 1
Treble 17.5 kHz 3 N/A"
Seems like there are more settings too that can be played with on the speaker setup that aren't addressed in the quick start guide, but I'm wondering...do people like these settings or have other suggestions?

There's some discussion in this thread too. My fault for diverging.
It seems the settings only go so far because there is no dedicated sub out.
My own observation for the "offset" is the level of sound from using the radio to other devices. To account for a CD being too loud when you put it in after listening to the radio. If you want max sound from the radio, don't set this so low. Just know that other devices may be *loud* when you switch. I'm happy to be corrected here if I'm off base.

These are the two solutions I am thinking about.
1.) Run the speakers off the head unit instead of the amp. Use the amp to power the sub only.
2.) Buy another amp for the sub. Something like this.

Both would require stringing a new low level wire from the head unit to the trunk area. What does everyone think?

Learned something new today! The "offset" is set based on whatever source is in use at the time. So my complaints about the iPhone audio being too low were eliminated by going into the sound settings while the phone was plugged in and adjusted the offset to 0! I believe it is meant to balance the sources to each other I just assumed incorrectly that only the radio could be adjusted.
So based on what's been discussed here, is there a way to re-wire the Kenwood unit so that the subwoofer is properly driven?
I was looking at Minority's DIY thread on the double DIN HU installation, and there was a point made about the wiring harness in the Kizashi plugging straight into the Panasonic non-navi HU's...with that in mind, if the wiring harness and amp are the same in both non-navi and navi versions of the car, then then there should be a way to drive the speakers the same way in both, no? I don't quite follow why the Panasonic HU would drive the sub properly while the Kenwood can't...is it because of the LOC? And if so, would replacing the LOC with just RCA adapters for the pre-outs solve the issue?
