Yes, indeed it is a costly affair to own a car in this "Red Dot" (an affectionate name given by an ex-Indonesian president) on the world map. The relationship starts with a bid of a certificate of entitlement, locally known as COE before you can even start thinking of buying a car, and the COE bidding can reach in excess of another car's price; the last result for car's capacity above 1601cc hit S$76000, almost US$60000.
A recent policy that limits car growth rate to a mere 0.5% a year will see car prices rocket to Mars in no time.....
